Provincial Public Security Department s Working Conference on Traffic Control Held in Hangzhou

Write: Normand [2011-05-20]

The provincial public security department s working conference on traffic control was held in Hangzhou on February 24. Vice governor Mao Guanglie attended and addressed the meeting.

The provincial death toll of traffic accidents was on a zero rise last year for seven consecutive years. In particular, effective measures had been adopted to ban DWI. Our province ranked first nationwide in terms of both the number of investigated cases and the enforcement rate of detention with a year-on-year decrease of 211 deaths in alcohol-related traffic accidents.

As was emphasized at the conference, more effective measures should be taken to implement the plan of carrying out successful road safety work: special attention should be directed to the management of people as traffic participants, the improvement of road traffic conditions, and the road order management.

The concept of opening and cooperation should be framed and a long-term mechanism should be established with overall planning and all-round consideration by making efforts in such aspects as planning and construction. In response to people s new expectations and demands, the traffic police departments should have greater predictability in taking precautions and guaranteeing security, exercise more care in administrative measures, make more efforts to enforce laws in a civilized and impartial way, and show more consideration in offering services for the convenience of the public.

The Traffic Police Detachment of Hangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and the other 57 units were commended at the conference for their outstanding work to ban DWI.
