World Water Day and China Water Week activities were launched in Hangzhou on March, 22nd. While attending the activities, Mr. Xia Baolong, Deputy Secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee said that undertaking water conservancy projects and preventing flood damage are essential to the economic and social development as well as the well-being of the people.
The Provincial Government ought to fully implement Central People s Government s policy on accelerating water conservancy projects, build a solid foundation for irrigation and water conservancy projects, improve water conservancy condition that has a direct bearing on people s livelihood, transform the mode of water resources development, mobilize the entire society to make more efforts in such fields as flood control, building water conservancy projects, cherishing water and water conservation, and improve in an all-around manner the support given by water resources to economic and social development.
Mr. Cheng Weishan, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People s Congress and Ms. Chen Yanhua, Vice-Chairman of Zhejiang Provincial CPPCC also attended the activities and delivered speeches.
