The Symposium on Weather Change and Economic and Social Development, co-hosted by Zhejiang Provincial CPPCC, the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Provincial Meteorological Bureau, opened on the eve of World Meteorological Day on March, 23rd. Chen Yanhua, Vice-Chairman of Zhejiang Provincial CPPCC, addressed the meeting.
As one of the high-risk regions for global climate disasters, Zhejiang Province is prone to be adversely affected by climate change. With the worsening of global warming, extreme weather events and meteorological disasters are happening with increasing frequency. Zhejiang Province must take immediate actions to deal with climate change, transform the pattern of economic development and improve its ability in handling meteorological disasters.
