No Impact of Japan s Nuclear Power Plant Accident Detected on Zhejiang s Environment

A magnitude 9.0 earthquake hit Japan on March 11th, causing a series of explosions at the No. 1 nuclear power plant of Fukushima Prefecture, and leakage of gas with radioactive substances.

Emergency monitoring has been carried out in accordance with the national radiation emergency instruction issued by the National Ministry of Environmental Protection immediately after the occurrence of accident. Up till 15:00 p.m., March 15th, the monitoring has detected no abnormal level of radiation to the environment within Zhejiang.

The relevant sectors of Zhejiang Environmental Protection Bureau will continue to pay close attention to the changes in radiation level in the light of the latest development of Japan s nuclear power plant leakage accident, and publicize on a daily basis the monitoring result of the radiation level of the province in portal websites.
