The other day, Mrs. Akie Abe, wife of former Prime Minister, Abe Shinzo visited the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders and got deeply impressed by the exhibition.

Walking into the memorial hall, one can feel deep grief and indignation fulfilling the atmosphere. The overall design concept represents war, killing and peace. Layout of space implies peace can only be achieved by casting the swords into ploughshares and the plane design looks like a ship of peace , the presenter elaborated to Mrs. Abe who nodded with a very serious expression from time to time.

The sound of dripping water attracted the visitors. Every 12 seconds, a water drops down implying that a life elapsed. Mrs. Abe meditated on hearing the introduction.

At the site of mass grave, bones of the dead scattered on the earth, telling the true history to us. Abe Akie asked softly, Is it the original scene of the site? When she got an affirmative answer, she stood in silent tribute with folded hands and prayed for the Chinese. Coming to the condolence field, she made a deep bow.

On the peace park square of the memorial hall, there is a set of sculpture composed of a mother holding a peace dove in her hand and a child anticipating peace. It symbolizes that human beings wish of enduring world peace. Mrs. Abe showed a smile on the square and had a photo taken with the sculpture as background. (Nanjing Daily)
