Four Roads One Tunnel Project Started in Ganzi

On November 30th, the mobilization meeting of the Four Roads One Tunnel Project in Ganzi was held in Eastern E luo Village, Xindu Bridge Town, Kangding County. The reconstruction and expansion works of four roads: the national road 318 from Eastern E luo to Haizi mountain, national road 317 from E eryatang to Gangtuo, provincial road 303 from Bamei to Danba then to Xiaojin, provincial road 217 from Junba Bridge to Litang River and one Que er mountain tunnelling project have officially been started up.

This project is a great achievment in implementing the spirits of the Party Central Committee s Fifth Tibetan Work Symposium and the Sichuan Tibetan Areas Work Symposium, in promoting the construction of western comprehensive transportation hub and in propelling transportation construction in Tibetan areas in our province.

The total investment amounts to 11.85 billion yuan and the project will be all accomplished in 2 to 4 years, providing strength to the economic and social developments in Tibetan areas. The above mentioned construction works in national road 318 and 317 together with the tunnel constitute the arteny of transportation in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.

The provincial road 303 and provincial road 217 are arterial roads in Tibetan areas and also important exit and connecting line with other areas.

Currently, we are speeding up the implementing of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture 2009-2010 Road Construction Program. By 2012, the total length of Ganzi s roads will be 27000 km, 8900 km more than that of 2008.

Besides, preliminary work of four freeways in Tibetan areas, such as freeways from Ya an to Kangding and from Wenchuan to Barkam, is pushing forward and is estimated to start in 2011.

Vice-governor Wang Ning announced the Four Roads One Tunnel Project to be started and Liu Daoping, the provincial CPPCC Vice-chairman and Secretary of Ganzi Prefecture addressed at the meeting.
