About 100 peole including consuls and diplomats from Consulate Generals in Guangzhou, provicial government officials and representives of universities and medias gathered in the newly renovated courtyard of Guangdong Foreign Affairs office (GDFAO) on Jan 14 to welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year, which will fall on February 3.

Fu Lang, Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office, expressed his sincerely thanks and best wishes for help and brotherlyhood of the Consulate Generals in Guangzhou in the past years. In the year of rabbit, he said, GDFAO is happy to work with them with mutual benefits to promote co-op parntership. At the party, he also mentioned one of the buildings in the courtyard of GDFAO will be renovated into a GDFAO Museum to showcase the history of (Guangdong) foreign exchanges, the Museum will be open to the public this year, he added.

Singaporean Consul General in Guangzhou Ang Chan Chuan, on behalf of the 37 Consulate Generals in Guangzhou, gave his remarks, saying the 2010 Asian Games and Asian Para Games had truly left a membroable and practicial experience for Asia. He believed the Shenzhen Universiade in 2011 will be another benchmark for Guangdong.
