Dongguan's tourism revenue hits 19 billion yuan last year

It is learnt from the Dongguan Tourism Work Conference that Dongguan will innovatively develop modern tourism which highlight leisure and vacation. The city will also promote its image nationwide through different channels this year. For example, to place the publicity film on the image of Dongguan on the LED display screen in Beijing West Railway Station, to make outdoor advertisements citywide, and also place the advertising for Dongguan's tourism image at the junction station of Wuhan-Guangzhou High Speed Rail.

In 2010, tourism in Dongguan had all-round success and maintained fast growth. Dongguan received 22.51 million tourists last year, increased by 10.52% from the previous year. Tourism revenue hit 19.1 billion yuan, marking a tremendous increase of 26.29%.

According to Liang Shaoxia, the General Director of Dongguan Tourism Bureau, there are 5 Grade A scenic spots and 3 Grade AAAA scenic spots in Dongguan by December 31, 2010. There are 97 star-rated hotels including 22 five-star hotels and 25 four-star hotels. Currently there are 54 tourism agencies in the city, 9 for overseas tours, 41 common agencies and 4 branches without legal personality.

Taking advantage of the construction of cultural city, Dongguan will strengthen the registration and evaluation of Grade AAAA scenic spots and expect to increase 5 Grade A scenic spots in 2011, Liang introduced last Thursday (March 3).
