The first hospital in China to be fully financed by Taiwanese businessmen operating there will open in July, according to a business group based in the southern part of the country.

The Dongguan Taiwan Business Association told the China News Service that the association invited more than 70 Taiwanese businesses operating in Dongguan, Guangdong province, to invest more than 700 million yuan (US$1.07 million) to build the hospital.

The facility will be a modern teaching hospital that will focus on medical treatment, medical education and research, preventive health care and rehabilitation therapy.

The hospital will have 1,200 beds and will provide emergency, outpatient, inpatient and nursing services for Taiwanese businessmen and others residing in the Pearl River Delta.

The hospital will also become an affiliated hospital of Guangdong Medical College, with the college providing skills and talent. (By Tseng Chih-yuan and Lilian Wu)
