According to the deputy secretary-general and spokesman of the Canton Fair Chen Chaoren, the Canton Fair achieved a success. The buyers attending the fair and the export transaction regained a growth, but did not reach the pre-crisis level. As of May 4, a total of 203,996 overseas buyers from 212 countries and regions attended the fair, increased by 15,827 people with a growth of 8.4% compared to the Fair in last autumn and dropped by 1.3% over the same period in 2007. The export turnover was 34.3 billion U.S. dollars, increased by 12.6% compared to the Fair in last autumn and decreased by 10.3% over the same period in 2008. The export turnover of Huizhou transaction branch was 460 million U.S. dollars.
