On March 6th, a scientific research achievement technical appraising meeting of 3D Design Theory and application of Full-Face Rock Ripper Disc Cutter developed by Professor Zhang Zhaohuang from the School of Energy and Power Engineering was held in the International Conference Center. The meeting was hosted by Baoding Science and Technology Bureau. Professor Wang Hao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and China Institute of Water Resource and Hydropower Research served as the director of the appraisal committee. Professor Li Shisen from the Development and Research Center of the Ministry of Water Resources served as the vice director. Some relevant experts, including Ding Jihui, Lujinxi, Wang Shufang, Wang Ning and Mahuai, and leaders from the Science and Technology Department and other related departments also attended the meeting.
The appraisal committee listened to the research group s work report, technical report, testing and analysis report, science and technology novelty searching report and usage report, then they consulted related materials, then after the question and answer session as well as a serious discussion, finally the committee unanimously agreed that the research could pass the technical appraisal.
The appraisal committee believed that the overall technology of the 3D Design Theory and application of Full-Face Rock Ripper Disc Cutter scientific research achievement reached the international advanced level. Based on the theoretical analysis of the 3D space movement of the rock breaking movement, the research achievement was a breakthrough and innovation of the current 2D theoretical design used for decades in the world. The program ascertained the maximum stress position of the rock breaking blade of the disc cutter, and proposed a disc cutter design idea that the located plane and the maximum stress position s rock breaking velocity vector of the rock breaking blade of the disc cutter should coincide. In addition, according to the 3D design theory, the group designed a disc cutter with anisomerous inner and outer bezelsfor the first time in the world. Also, the new style disc cutter broke through in process routes like selecting material of the cutter ring, moulding process, and heat treatment, which ensured the manufacture quality and service performance of the disc cutter.
The research achievement has been widely used in domestic construction of large hydropower plants, railways, urban railway tunnel boring machines, and the domestic market share of it has reached 50%, which has tremendous economic and social benefits.
