Vice Chancellor of the University of Adelaide Australia Prof. Richard Russell Paid a Visited NCEPU

On October 25th, Prof. Richard Russell, vice-chancellor from the University of Adelaide Australia, and Ms. Sandy Mcconachy, director from Office of International Affairs paid a visit to North China Electric Power University. They were welcomed by Vice-president Li Chengrong, director of International Cooperation Office Liu Yongqian, associate director Xu Lingling, and vice-director from office of Graduate School Zhao Huiru who attended the meeting.

Vice-president Li first extended his warm welcome to Prof. Russell. He maintained that NCEPU attached importance to the cooperation with Australian universities, especially prestigious universities like the University of Adelaide which would be NCEPU S key cooperative partner. Vice-chancellor Prof. Russell expressed his delight in this visit, and gave a brief account of the University of Adelaide. The University of Adelaide, located in the city of Adelaide, southern Australia, has always on the list of top universities in Australia since its foundation in 1874. By 2008, it had produced 5 Nobel Laureates and 101 Rhodes. The university has a total of 19,000 registered students, including 3,500 international ones from approximately 88 countries at present.
After the meeting, Mr. Russell introduced the Full Scholarship Project provided by the University of Adelaide and China Scholarship Council. According to the Project, 30 to 40 Chinese students will be selected every year to go to the University of Adelaide for Doctor s Degree, during which the full scholarship, as well as living expenses plus round-trip ticket fare are respectively sponsored by the University of Adelaide and China Scholarship Council. Every year, eight students from NCEPU can benefit from this Full Scholarship Project.
At last, Mr. Russell ended his visit with the students enthusiastic questions and warm applause.
