The Delegation of Vice-President Yuan Jun visited the Russian State University of Cinematography and MSU

From Oct. 31st to Nov. 9th, Vice-President Yuan Jun led the delegation to visit Journalism Departments in the Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov (VGIK) and MSU short for Lomonosov Moscow State University .
CUC has already cooperated with Journalism Departments in MSU for many years, but it s CUC s first formal contact with the Russian State University of Cinematography. This visit to both universities has a profound significance for consolidating and strengthening the cooperation channels between CUC and the media universities in Russia.

The Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov (VGIK) has descended from State Film Academy of Moscow founded in 1919, which was the earliest film education organization and among the most renowned film institutions of higher education. Film Masters such as Eisenstein, Pudovkin, Dovzhenko, Rohm, Gerasimov, Tarkovsky, Bondarchuk, Mikhalkov and Sokolov, etc. in Soviet Russia had studied and taught here.
On the 90th Anniversary of the founding of the Russian State University of Cinematography, Vice-President Yuan Jun led the delegation of 5 persons to Moscow to celebrate the 90th Anniversary and engaged in a series of academic exchange activities at the invitation of President Vladimir Malyishev.
In the international academic seminar Cinema Education: Tradition and Innovation sponsored by the Russian State University of Cinematography, Vice-President Yuan Jun addressed a keynote speech, illustrating the basic concepts of CUC in developing its Television and Film Art education . The delegation members also took part in the discussion on specific topics, such as students selection of film education, theoretical and practical course setting and so on, with experts from Russia, British, Poland and Bulgaria.
Vice-President Yuan Jun also led the delegation to participate in the serial activities of the 29th VGIK International Film Festival sponsored by the Russian State University of Cinematography.
The 29th VGIK International Film Festival can be traced to the year of 1961, and started to become an annual festival since 1998. The 50-year old student film festival has both the longest history and the most profound influence.
In the opening ceremony of the 29th VGIK International Film Festival, Vice-President Yuan Jun represented Chinese film fraternity, wishing our very best to the universitys 90th anniversary, and presented an exquisite gift to President Malyishev. Four student works selected by CUC were successfully enrolled in the main international competition of the Film Festival.
CUC s delegation joined the celebration for the universitys 90th anniversary. The celebration was held in the Kremlin Hall grandly. President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent congratulatory letters, and Russian Minister of Culture attended the celebration venue in person and delivered the greetings.
The Russian Government had attached much importance to the celebrations for the universitys 90th anniversary. On the day of celebration, Prime Minister Putin carried out a tour of inspection in the Russian State University of Cinematography.
The delegation was invited to visit the Russian Film Foundation and The Russian Film Archive, and viewed and emulated Valuable film footage shot by early Soviet-Russian Film Masters.
Vice-President Yuan Jun had interviewed President Malyishev and had formally established cooperation and exchange relationship of the two universities. President Malyishev pleasantly accepted our invitation to visit CUC. Subsequently, the Vice-President, in charge of teaching and international exchange, met CUC s delegation. The two sides reached a series of cooperation intentions through the meeting.
CUC has had many items of cooperation with Journalism Department, MSU. During visiting Russia, Vice-President Yuan Jun interviewed the Department, discussed and reached some consensuses on several matters, with Prof. Zasurski, Department Chairman and Prof. Vardan Nova, Dean of Department.
Journalism Department, MSU agreed with pleasure to join the Media Higher Education Alliance advocated by CUC and signed it. Referring to the 6th China-Russia Mass Media Seminar opened in June, 2010 as scheduled, the two sides made a further discussion on the detailed cases, such as the seminar s topic, date, the attendees number, and seminar coordinator, etc.. Journalism Department, MSU showed their hope to make further efforts to implement cooperative research and brought out concrete cooperation intentions such as opening Mass Media Seminar of Four Gold Brick Countries . The delegation obtained communication on signing intercollegiate cooperative agreement between CUC and MSU, with Journalism Department, MSU and International Cooperation Department, MSU. They expressed to make mutual efforts with CUC and to promote the signing of the intercollegiate cooperative agreement and offered specific suggestions.
