Jianwai SOHO, a luxury commercial development in Beijing's central business district, held on Saturday the opening ceremony for its shopping streets. The event attracted more than 10,000 artists, residents and workers.
The development has 700,000 square meters of residential and commercial space - including 300 shops over 96,000 square meters. Unlike most developments in Beijing, which include grandiose landscapes, Jianwai SOHO's 16 commercial streets have been developed into narrow, zigzagging lanes that create the feeling of a busy, cheerful shopping environment.
The site has been developed by SOHO China, which is renowned for its creative designs.
