At the 8th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale
di Venezia, Zhang Xin from SOHO China Ltd., with her project Commune by the
Great Wall, was awarded the 'Special Prize to an individual patron of architectural
works'.
The Commune is an avant-garde architectural project, featuring designs created
by 12 outstanding Asian architects. This was the first time a Biennale prize
was awarded to a non-architect.
