On 5 September 2008, CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. won the bid for North Anchor project of Nanjing No.4 Yangtze River Bridge (Section A4). The contract value amounted to RMB258 million, with construction period of 28 months.
This bridge is a significant component of Shanghai-Chengdu National Main Road. It is dual three-lane with the main bridge of suspension bridge with two towers and three spans. The North Anchor is adopting open caisson foundation with subsidence excavation of approximately 215,000m3. It is expected that approximately 7555t steel and 189,800m3 concrete will be used.
