China Longyuan Power Succeeded in Completing and Launching First Intertidal Trial Wind Farm of the World

On Sept. 28^th, the 30MW intertidal trial wind farm of Jiangsu Rudong, affiliated to China Longyuan Power Group Corporation Limited, was completed and launched to production, which indicated China Longyuan Power had established the first intertidal wind farm of the world.

This wind farm is a trial one which is to respond the appealing of the nation and to accumulate experience for the large-scale development of offshore(inter-tidal) wind farm.Totally it has been installed with 16 offshore trial turbine units produced by 9 domestic manufacturers. The entire installed capacity is 32MW and the capacities of single turbine unit are 6 turbine units of 1.5MW, 6 turbine units of 2.0MW, 2 turbine units of 2.5MW, 2 turbine units of 3.0MW respectively.<The project was started to build on June 15, 2009 and was launched to production on Sept. 28, 2010 completely.
The intertidal zone is located between the land and the sea, which is drowned by sea water at high tide and appears at low tide. Besides, there are twice high tides each day and the geological features, climate and hydrological conditions there are special. Meanwhile, there is no successful precedent of the intertidal wind farm in the world. Therefore difficulties, such as the influence of tidal level, foundation construction, large part transportation and the move of equipment, appeared in construction.After a lot of experiments and studies, the company customized special equipments suitable for the construction of intertidal wind farms and successively optimized and improved the construction plan of wind turbine s foundation.Ultimately, the staff of the company succeeded in building the first intertidal wind farm of the world by overcoming one after another construction difficulties with their wisdom, strong will and perseverance.

The completion and launching of the company s Jiangsu Rudong 30MW intertidal trial wind farm has accumulated valuable experience of the construction of intertidal wind farms for the whole world and taken a substantial step forward in the domestication of offshore wind farm equipments.
