Good morning!

Thanks to the care by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the strong support by the Ministry of Commerce and National Development and Reform Commission, the correct leadership by Jilin provincial committee of the CPC and provincial government, and joint efforts made by people of the entire province, the Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo is drawing to a close and will harvest a complete success. Now, I m going to notify the general conditions of the Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo.

I. Main Conditions of the Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo

The Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo coincides with the first anniversary of the implementation of outline for corporation and development of China Tumen River Region with Chang-Ji-Tu as the pilot region for development and opening up and is at the period for recovery and adjustment of global economy after the financial crisis.

The Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, Jilin provincial committee of the CPC and provincial government, as well as Chinese and foreign enterprises pay more attention to this Expo, hope to explore cooperation space by virtue of the platform, and look for new economic recovery points and business opportunities.

The Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo Executive Committee, in accordance with the general requirement of "outstanding features to enhance the effect and to pursue effectiveness" and holding a better Expo than the previous one put forward by Jilin provincial committee of the CPC and provincial government, adheres to the tenet of facing the whole world and serving the Northeast Asia , and makes meticulous planning and solid operation with "innovative development, raising level, and in pursuit of effectiveness" as the goal, making the Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo achieve good results in all respects.

(I) Scale of Expo. A total of 50,000 traveling merchants participate in the Expo, including 20,000 professional traveling merchant, and 12,000 overseas traveling merchants from the five countries in Northeast Asia and 117 countries and regions in the Americas, Europe, Oceania, Africa and West Asia. A total of 124 domestic and overseas dignitaries above the vice-provincial (ministerial) level participate in the Expo, including 77 foreign political leaders and 47 domestic political leaders.

4 leaders of the NPC and CPPCC, as well as 21 leaders of 14 central ministries and units directly under the Central Government including the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science, and Ministry of Culture attended the Expo. 22 leaders of vice-provincial level from 9 provinces covering Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Hebei, Guangxi, Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang, as well as Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang of provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).

A total of 382 domestic and foreign enterprises attended the Expo, covering 26 European and American enterprises, 45 enterprises from Northeast Asia, 52 enterprises from Southeast Asia, 98 enterprises from Taiwan, 87 enterprises from Hong Kong and Macao, 44 enterprises from other provinces, and 30 enterprises in Jilin Province.

110 Fortune 500 companies such as Henkel, DuPont, Toyota, and Posco, 107 enterprises directly under the central government such as COFCO, SINOTRANS, and Datang Group, top domestic 507 enterprises, 104 domestic and foreign well-known financial and investment institutions such as People s Bank of China, China Life insurance, and the Asian Development Bank, 152 well-known business associations such as the European Chamber of Commerce and Taipei World Trade Center, and 248 well-known domestic and foreign buyers such as Carrefour and HK Vanguard attended the Expo.

(II) Merchandise trades and signing of investment projects. At this Expo, foreign trade turnover reached 585 million U.S. dollars, of which export turnover was 500 million U.S. dollars and import turnover was 84 million U.S. dollars. Domestic trade turnover was 1.61 billion yuan. During the exhibition, Jilin Province signed 267 investment and cooperation projects with domestic and foreign investors, with total investment amounting to 163.

718 billion yuan. Among them, the introduction of extra investment was 158.93 billion yuan (including foreign investment of 2.374 billion U.S. dollars). Among contracted projects, 230 projects exceeded 100 million yuan, accounting for 86% of the total; 36 projects exceeded 1 billion yuan; and one project exceeded 10 billion yuan.

(III) Main activities. During the Expo, a total of 72 conference forums and activities were held. 22 high-level conferences such as the fourth High Level Forum on Northeast Asia Economic & Trade Cooperation, the Great Tumen initiative eleventh intergovernmental consultative committee ministerial meeting, the first (2010) World Emerging Industry Meeting, Changchun High-level Financial Meeting, the EU - China (Jilin 2010) Business Meeting, 2010 Northeast Asia Logistics Cooperation Development Forum, the 13th Sino-Japanese Economic Symposium, Regional Economic Cooperation and Chang-Ji-Tu Development and Opening-up Forum, the Third Northeast Asia - ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Forum, 2010 Ji-Taiwan Strait Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, and Jilin Provincial People's Government Economic Advisor Forum; 30 investment and cooperation activities such as business days for North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Russia and other Northeast Asian countries, Africa, Estonia and other countries, investment meetings for Beijing, Shaanxi, Ningxia, and other related provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), Jilin investment environment and foreign cooperation projects release conferences, and meetings on the investment environments of cities across the province; the First Northeast Asia Culture and Art Week covering 15 cultural exchange activities such as the Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo "Meet in Northeast Asia" symphonic concert, the second Northeast Asia International Fine Art Photography Exhibition, the "China has a city called Changchun" national painting and calligraphy exhibition, performance by the Russian Royal Troupe and other cultural activities, as well as 5 special events such as the opening ceremony were held.

II. Main Features of the Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo

The number and level of domestic and foreign dignitaries and traveling merchants attending this Expo are respectively large and high; the level of exhibitors and products upgrades, showing high international level; investment negotiations are in various forms and investment reaches remarkable results; meeting forums are rich in contents and have expanded international influence; cultural exchange is beautiful and colorful, and the atmosphere of the Expo is warm.

With prominent feature throughout the exhibition, it has won high praise by participating Chinese and foreign dignitaries, businessmen and scholars.

(I) The Exhibition and Arrangement Fully Reflect International High Level. Among 2,200 indoor booths at this Expo, booths for Europe and the United States, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Macao amount to 1,160, accounting for 52.7% of the total, with an increase of 13 percentage points over the previous one, significantly improving the degree of internationalization. The China Tumen River Area Cooperation Development Plan Pilot Region for Development and Opening-up of Chang-Ji-Tu firstly set up present the overall profile of Pilot Region for Development and Opening-up of Chang-Ji-Tu for domestic and foreign politicians and traveling merchants, through electronic sand table, huge LED and other high-tech means, supplemented by graphic light boxes, with four parts covering Chang-Ji integration and Yan-Long-Tu integration, international regional cooperation, regional industrial layout, and international channel construction, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign dignitaries and traveling merchants. Other exhibition halls mainly present commodities, showing domestic and foreign high-end commodities with famous (brand), excellent (quality), new (technology), and features, and having greatly enhanced the attractiveness of the exhibition. Taiwan Hall with the largest exhibition area mainly presents four major categories of Taiwan's annual boutique covering high-tech electronic goods, food, culture, and daily necessities. Visitors are in an endless stream and the hall is very popular. The Macao Hall set up for the first time is divided into six exhibition galleries for goods manufactured in Macao, Macao s featured souvenirs, merchandises of Portuguese-speaking countries, achievements in the 10th anniversary of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Macao's economic development and Macao exhibition, displaying the characteristic goods and culture of Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries. Jilin Goods Hall concentrates the main products of the pillar, advantageous, and featured industries in Jilin province. The latest products of FAW, Jilin Chemical, Changchun Railway Vehicles, Jilin Forest Industry, and other large enterprises are exhibited. The large suspending LED display and other goods with very high technology content are outstanding. large enterprise exhibition area in No. 1 Hall of General Merchandise exhibits 22 enterprises directly under the central government and domestic top 500 enterprises covering COFCO, China Aviation Industry, China South Industries Group Corporation, Aluminium China, Sinopharm, Hisense Group, Skyworth Group, and Hanwang Technology. Among them, COFCO designs the stand to China Pavilion's modeling, displaying an array of goods; China Aviation Industry demonstrates new helicopter and aircraft model of China; ZK Group Inc. displays intelligent robot. Thai Goods Exhibition Area and Hong Kong Goods Exhibition Area mainly display food, crafts, and other special luxury goods of Thailand and Hong Kong. 70 Global 500 enterprises from Northeast Asia, Europe, and the United States display precision machinery, high and new technology, environmental protection equipment, new concept cars and characteristic commodities in No. 2 Hall of General Merchandise. At the same time, South Korean goods exhibition area is arranged at the second floor of B and C Hall. 4,500-square meter outdoor SMEs products exhibition area provides a technical exchange and trade platform for SMEs. Various types of exhibits are rich in contents and high in technology contents, with further enhanced grade. The expected goal of concentrated demonstration of excellent goods in indoor exhibition areas and contrast demonstration of small goods in outdoor exhibition areas has been realized. Booths are transparent and beautiful. 100% special design fully displays the international standard.

(II) The level of participating politicians and businessmen is substantially increased. Among 124 attending political leaders above deputy vice-provincial (ministerial) level, deputy national-level political figures amount to 11 and ministerial-level politicians amount to 13, making a record of previous Expos. Member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Gang attended and announced the opening of the expo, and visited the hall. Vice chairman of NPC and Chairman of Chinese Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee Central Committee Zhou Tienong, CPPCC Vice Chairman and President of China Federation of Literature Sun Jiazheng, CPPCC Vice Chairman and Chinese Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee Central Committee Vice Chairman Li Wuwei, Vice President of Bulgaria Angel Marin, Mongolia's First Deputy Prime Minister Na Alatanhuyage, Vice Premier of Hungary Semjen Zsolt, Deputy Speaker of Estonian Parliament Kantor Dobbins, Deputy President of Hungarian National Assembly Lauduoer Caoi Janos, former President of Seychelles James Mancham, former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin and other domestic and foreign dignitaries at the deputy-national level attended the Expo. Macao Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Chui Sai On, Hong Kong Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah, Minister of Regional Development of Kenya Frederick Fideliscumo, Deputy Minister of Trade of North Korea Ju Bentai, Vice Minister of Economy and Industry of Japan Zengzi Huiyan, deputy representative of Russian President in the Northwest Federal District Lukjanov Yevgeny, Director of Investment & Trade Office of the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy of South Korea Kim Kyung-sik, Vice Minister of Commerce of Thailand Bapeng Milintajinda and other foreign dignitaries and ambassadors attended the expo and participated in forums and related activities. Vice Presidents of China regions of the world's top 500 enterprises attending the expo amount to 96, of which vice presidents of headquarters and Asia Pacific region including president of the Toshiba Nishida, president of POSCO Group Chung Joon Yang, and President and CEO of Hana Financial Group Jong-Yeol Kim amount to 28; senior executives above vice president of enterprises directly under the central government covering President of COFCO Ning Gaoning, Chairman of the Board OF Sinotrans Miao Gentshu, and General Manager of China Datang Group Chen Jinxing amount to 20; domestic and foreign financial leaders and scholars including Li Ruogu - chairman of Export-Import Bank of China, Yang Chao - president of China Life Insurance (Group) Company as well as the "Father of Euro" Mundell, ant George A. Akerlof - professor of University of California Berkeley (UC Berkeley), amount to 50; and presidents and vice president covering Chairman of European Chamber of Commerce Alessandro Babolis and Chairman of the Board of Taipei World Trade Center Wang Zhigang amount to 33. A large number of politicians and business executives further improve the level of the exhibition and expand the influence of the Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo.

(III) The level and content of meeting forums are further enhanced. The forums organized at this expo are closely related to the current international economic situation. Their thematic issues are more representative and specific. Attending dignitaries and guests are resonated in exchanges and dialogues, and have reached broad consensus.

The theme of the fourth High Level Forum on Northeast Asia Economic & Trade Cooperation about which domestic and foreign politicians and businessmen are much concerned is "Post-crisis Era: Innovation and Development of Economic and Trading Cooperation in Northeast Asia", actively promoting the pragmatic cooperation and economic prosperity in Northeast Asia, in the environment that the current international economic development trend have not yet been stable.

Member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Wang Gang attended the forum, and put forward five proposals in his keynote speech: "The first is to actively promote trade liberalization and facilitation in Northeast Asia; the second is to promote the coordination and integration of economic trends of various countries; the third is to promote sustainable economic and social development; the fourth is to strengthen contact and cooperation between governments and relevant economic organizations; and the fifth is to promote exchanges and understanding of peoples.

" Mongolia's Deputy Prime Minister, Vice Premier of Hungary, Deputy Minister of Trade of North Korea, deputy representative of Russian President in the Northwest Federal District, Vice Minister of Economy and Industry of Japan, Director of Investment & Trade Office of the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy of South Korea, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission Xie Zhenhua, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce Chen Jian made speeches consecutively, to carry out exchange and discussion on adjustment of various countries policies in response to the financial crisis, green low carbon economy and environmental protection industrial cooperation, and bilateral and multilateral regional free trade agreement development trend, which will have a positive impact on further promotion of trade and economic cooperation in Northeast Asia.

Vice President of Bulgaria, Vice Premier of Hungary, Deputy Speaker of Estonian Parliament, former President of Seychelles, and former French Prime Minister were invited to attend the forum.

The Great Tumen initiative eleventh intergovernmental consultative committee ministerial meeting was successfully held. Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce Yi Xiaozhun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Finance Mongolia Tuvden Ochirkhuu, Russian Federation Representative in Business in the People s Republic of China.

Tsyplakov Sergei Sergeyevich, Vice Minister of Ministry of Strategy and Finance of South Korea Hwa-Dong KIM, and representatives of other Great Tumen Initiative member countries, as well as Representative of the United Nations Development Program in China Luo Dailin attended the meeting. Through negotiations and discussions on promotion of economic cooperation in the Northeast Asia and creation of favorable investment environment in the Greater Tumen Region, representatives of attending member countries unanimously reached Changchun Declaration, actively praised the role of the Great Tumen Initiative mechanism in promoting regional economic development and integration.

The member countries will further improve pragmatic cooperation on trade facilitation, transport, tourism and other areas, continuously enhance the level of cooperation, and promote the healthy development of the Great Tumen Initiative mechanism.

The first (2010) World Emerging Industry Meeting co-hosted by the Asia-Pacific CEO Association and the Jilin Provincial People's Government attracted broad attentions of domestic and foreign politicians as well as senior executives of well-known enterprises. Political leaders and government officials of more than 50 countries and regions such as Vice Premier of Hungary, former President of Seychelles, former French Prime Minister, Vice Premier of Hungary, heads of headquarters and Asia-Pacific regions of "Fortune" 500 enterprises, senior executives of Forbes Global 2000, Business Week Global 1000, and Financial Times Global 500 businesses, senior executives of world-renowned listing companies and other key multinational companies, the world's emerging industry leaders, experts, bankers, academics, many domestic well-known entrepreneurs, leaders of competent departments of Jilin Province and cities (sub-prefectures), and principals of key enterprises attended the meeting.

Participants had in-depth exchange of views on development of low-carbon economy, supporting emerging industries, research and development of new energy and building of economic model for sustainable development, around the theme of "Emerging industries prompting industrial revolution and leading to a new round of international industry and technology transfer".

At the meeting, participants fully affirmed the efforts made by the Chinese government and Jilin Province in recent years for the development of emerging industries and put forward many useful insights for the future development of Jilin Province.

The Changchun High Level International Financial Conference with the theme of "Green Finance - development mode turning into new driving force" was co-hosted by Jilin Provincial People's Government, China Development Bank, Export-Import Bank of China, and Agricultural Development Bank of China. Foreign experts such as Robert A.

Mundell, the "Father of Euro" - economics professor of Columbia University and Nobel economic prize laureate, George A. Akerlof - professor of University of California Berkeley (UC Berkeley) and Nobel economic prize laureate, Ronald I. Mckinnon - economics professor of Stanford University, etc., as well as domestic banking leaders such as Li Ruogu - chairman of Export-Import Bank of China, Jiang Chaoliang - president of China Development Bank, Zheng Hui - president of Agricultural Development Bank of China, Jiang Jiangqing - chairman of Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, Zhang Yun - president of Agricultural Bank of China, Li Lihui - president of Bank of China, Xie Duyang - chief supervisor of China Construction Bank, Yang Chao - president of China Life Insurance (Group) Company, Li Renjie - president of Industrial Bank Co., Ltd. attended the meeting and had discussion on the development of green finance and promoting the building of green financial system.

The Songyuan Consensus on Green Finance which was reached at the meeting summarized promotion of green finance from nine aspects covering green finance is the sum of the financial elements supporting green industrial development and transformation of traditional industries; is generated along with green development; is a reform in the financial sector; constitutes a new mechanism in which the market and the government co-promote green development; green finance is becoming the most dynamic areas of financial development; international cooperation is an important engine of green financial development; building a positive financial incentive mechanism is the key to the development of green finance; creating global green finance growth award; and actively promoting the establishment of international green finance cooperation organization on an extensive exchange consultation basis.

The countries will continue to conduct in-depth green financial cooperation on the basis of the Consensus.

The EU-China (Jilin 2010) Business Meeting co-sponsored by Jilin provincial government and EU-China Association of Entrepreneurs was held. Former President of Seychelles James Mancham, Vice Chairman of Sino-Ukraine Friendship Association Buick Muladef, Scottish Rural Affairs Minister Richard Wickfud, Executive Chairman of World Chinese Businessmen Union General Liao Junqiao, Chairman of EU-China Association of Entrepreneurs Lu Dong as well as the EU delegations in China, Italian Turin Chamber of Commerce, Portugal National Chamber of Commerce, Spanish Foreign Trade Council, German Kassel Chamber of Commerce, German Darmstadt Chamber of Commerce, Trade and Industry Association in Brussels, Belgium, Belgium Lindberg Chamber of Commerce, International Trade Promotion Center of Greece, the Netherlands Exporters Association, Bulgarian Lietz Chamber of Commerce, Bulgaria Santa Ski Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce in Geneva, Switzerland and Turkey Kokari Chamber of Commerce, China-Britain Business Council and other EU trade associations and enterprises attended the meeting.

Chairman of European Chamber of Commerce Alessandro Babolis said in his speech that the current Meeting aimed to enable the entrepreneurs of European countries to understand the investment environment of Jilin, especially the development opportunities brought by the Changchun-Jilin-Tumen economic zone, and would make the Europe and Jilin entrepreneurs establish strategic partnership with each other.

Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission Xie Zhenhua, Deputy Director-general of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Logistics Officer of South Korean Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs, Vice Chairman of Russian Latter Baikal Region, government officials of other Northeast Asian countries, and principals of related logistics parks were invited to the 2010 Northeast Asia Logistics Cooperation Development Forum co-sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Jilin Provincial People's Government.

Focus on strengthening information communication and promoting logistics cooperation in Northeast Asia and development in Northeast Asia, representatives of the countries offered suggestions for promoting logistics industry cooperation and logistics channel construction among Northeast Asian countries.

At the meeting, Jilin Provincial Governor Wang Rulin put forward three proposals on speeding up cooperation of the logistics industry in Northeast Asia: First, improving smooth and efficient logistics channels; second, speeding up construction of logistics information and standards; and third, establishing and improving related mechanisms.

Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission Xie Zhenhua elaborated the conceiving for development of the logistics industry in the Northeast Asia, and put forward the proposal of "commonly promoting construction of international logistics channel, strengthening the logistics technology and personnel exchange, promoting unity of logistics technology standards, strengthening communication and consultation, and establishing a long-term mechanism .

The 13th Sino-Japanese Economics Seminar wit the theme of promoting the engine of world economic growth - China-Japan cooperation opportunities and issues" co-sponsored by the People's Daily and Nihon Keizai Shimbun, attracted more than 300 participants covering Chinese and Japanese government officials and people from the media, economy, finance and business community.

Zhang Yannong president of the People's Daily, Li Lihui president of Bank of China, Yu Ping Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion Of International Trade, He Chongyuan - Vice President of the People's Daily, Tsuneo Kita- president of Nihon Keizai Shinbun Inc., Nishida - president of the Toshiba, Toyoo Gyohten general director of Japan s Institute for International Monetary Affairs, Kazuma Tanaka - deputy president of ITOCHU, and Hattori Shigehiko president of Shimadzu Corporation attended the meeting and made speeches respectively on possibility of trade liberalization, financial cooperation and win-win, mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of environmental protection, etc.

Attending guests unanimously said that since the world economic situation was still complicated, China and Japan should cooperate to meet challenges, to strengthen cooperation in energy conservation, environmental protection, finance, information, intellectual property and other fields, to realize mutual benefit, to promote the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries to a higher level, and to contribute to world economic recovery.

More than 170 overseas and domestic young entrepreneurs from Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos , Singapore, Thailand and other ASEAN countries and South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other countries and regions, senior executives of domestic top 500 enterprises, and outstanding young entrepreneurs in and outside the province, totaling 300 odds, attended the Third Northeast Asia - ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Forum co-sponsored by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, Jilin Provincial People's Government, China Youth Entrepreneurs Association and the China - ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Association.

Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China Lu Yongzheng and Jilin Provincial Governor Wang Rulin respectively awarded certificates of the second Jilin Young People Top Ten Brands Businesses and presented plates to 5 provincial-level Youth Business Parks.

At the meeting, President of Xiamen International Trade Group Co., Ltd., Vice President of Tencent Technology Co., Ltd., and other young entrepreneurs respectively made the keynote speeches with the theme of "changing mode of economic development and youth entrepreneurs responsibility", had in-depth study on the great significance of speeding up the transition of economic development ways for promoting sound and fast economic development, guided young entrepreneurs to be based on their own businesses and achieve adjustment and transition of economic development mode, to promote the healthy development of regional economy.

Director of the Urban Reform and Development Center under the National Development and Reform Commission, Chief Planner of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction, professor of Tsinghua University, Deputy Director of Chengdu Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and other directors were invited to attend the Urban Development Forum. They made speeches on urban reform and development, how to do a good job in urban and rural planning, foreign experience and practices on urbanization development, and put forward suggestions.

It is the consecutive fifth time for the Jilin Provincial People's Government Economic and Technical Advisor Seminar to be held during the Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo. A total of 17 consultants and seven special representatives respectively put forward many good ideas and suggestions at the seminar on new trend of foreign investment, making efforts on green urbanization, the development of ginseng industry, paying attention to cooperation in the "Yangtze River Delta", improving the response system for extreme weather, building car culture park, providing financial support for SMEs, improving investment environment, multi-layered and bidirectional direct financing, reasonable industrial layout planning, establishing agricultural industrial fund, issuing green financial cards with characteristics of Jilin, development of clean energy for nuclear power, hydro-power, and wind power, accelerating the development of service industry, deepening cooperation between Jilin and Hong Kong, etc.

The Regional Economic Cooperation and Chang-Ji-Tu Development and Opening up Forum, 2010 Jilin-Taiwan Strait Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum, the Cooperation Development Forum for Local Governments in Northeast Asia, Think Tank Forum in Northeast Asia, Jilin Overseas Exchange Association Conference, 2010 High-level Automotive Industry Development Forum, Forum on Legal Cooperation in Northeast Asia, the Cross-strait Economy, Trade, and Law Cooperation Forum, Jilin Taiwan Business Negotiation Symposium, Large Talent Exchange Meeting, Business Days for Northeast Asian countries and other countries, and other business activities, forums and meetings held at the same time also invited many domestic and foreign high-level politicians and senior executives to have discussion on expanding regional economic trade and cooperation in Northeast Asia, rejuvenation of northeast old industrial bases, and building of pilot regions for development and opening of Chang-Ji-Tu.

From different areas, they discussed on how to strengthen economic and trade cooperation and to actively build cooperation mechanism in Northeast Asia. Broad consensus was reached at the international conferences and activities on the basis of communication and exchange, promotion and negotiation.

(IV) Pragmatic external exchanges & cooperation and trade & economic exchange activities. First, raise the level of opening up. This is the first time to Jilin for a majority of foreign dignitaries and traveling merchants attending the expo. Secretary Sun Zhengcai, Provincial Governor Wang Rulin and other provincial leaders arranged 118 individual and focused meetings despite of busy affairs, and met a total of 990 politicians and representatives of important enterprises. Provincial leaders introduced the profile of economic and social development in Jilin province to politicians and representatives of important companies. Foreign dignitaries spoke highly of Jilin Province. Many entrepreneurs introduced their investment projects and expressed strong desire to invest in Jilin. After the end of various meetings and forums, politicians and entrepreneurs from various countries were organized to visit the province. Vice President of Bulgaria Angel Marin praised our province s railway vehicle manufacturer with the largest production scale, the highest product level, and the strongest R&D and test capacity when he paid a visit to Changchun Railway Vehicles and he also said that I hope that there are such high-speed trains running in Bulgaria". Former President of Seychelles James Mancham said that "I really appreciate the capacity of Jilin Province to host such an event. It is of very important role in promoting common development of Northeast Asia to invite Northeast Asian countries to join in such an investment and trade fair. I m looking forward to the next trip to Jilin. Many merchants at home and abroad got to know Jilin through participation in the expo and have laid a sound foundation for cooperation at the next step. Second, a number of economic and trade cooperation and investment cooperation contracts were signed. Since the beginning of the year, the province and different regions launched a number of foreign cooperation projects. A group of projects were negotiated successfully through domestic and foreign economic and trade exchanges, online connection, investment invitations, and other forms, and by virtue of the expo. During the expo, the province organized large-scale treaty events and implemented focused signing of large-scale and high-quality major projects. 267 investment and cooperation projects signed at this expo are all contract projects. Total investment amounted to 163.718 billion yuan. Among them, the introduction of extra investment was 158.93 billion yuan. Jilin Provincial People's Government also separately signed cooperation framework agreements or investment cooperation projects with South Korea-based POSCO Group, Export-Import Bank of China, Sinotrans Group, COFCO and other domestic and foreign companies. The third is the formation of a number of agreements and intentions. During the expo, the investment environment of Jilin Province, namely foreign cooperation projects releasing conference was convened. It promoted a number of key cooperation projects and introduced the development trends of key industries in Jilin Province, and the investment environment and policies. More than 1,200 domestic and foreign travelling merchant attended the meeting, making a record in the history. The administrative committees of Changbai Mountain, and the cities (sub-prefectures) in the province organized Introduction to Investment Environment in Changchun: Project Signing Ceremony, Project Promotion Meeting for Jilin Chemical Industrial Circular Economy Demonstration Area, investment project connection meetings of Siping City with enterprises directly under the central government and domestic top 500 enterprises, Promotion Conference of Tonghua Characteristic Industrial Park: Focused Signing Ceremony for Project of Ten billions, and other promotion conferences, briefings, and signing ceremonies, according to their own advantages and characteristic industrial organizations. Songyuan, Liaoyuan, Baishan, Baicheng, Yanbian, and other cities and sub-prefectures, and administrative committees of Changbai Mountain also invited representatives of domestic and foreign well-known enterprises to visit the places for investigation, to promote further cooperation. According to statistics, a total of 48 negotiations were organized in a centralized manner in the province. 7,500 people were received for negotiation. And a total of 2050 projects were discussed and negotiated. A total of 20 EU countries and more than 150 entrepreneurs attended the EU - China (Jilin 2010) Business Meeting to conduct one-to-one negotiations respectively with 350 Jilin entrepreneurs in automobile manufacturing, rail transportation, agricultural food, environmental protection products, etc, and formed a number of cooperation agreements. 98 Taiwan companies were invited to Jilin and Taiwan Enterprises Negotiation Fair. A number of negotiation manners were adopted. Negotiations were conducted with 260 representatives of over 150 companies in and outside Jilin such as Charter Group, Changchun Eurasia Group, and COFCO. Some intentions were formed.

(V) Colorful cultural exchange activities. The 8-day first Northeast Asia cultural and art week as the core content of cultural exchange for the Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo, with the theme of "multiple and colorful; integrating and sharing" and with the tenet of building a cultural platform to promote artistic exchange, display regional image, and promote common development", presented colorful art performances, a variety of mass cultural activities, unique high-end cultural forums and transactions of cultural industry.

CPPCC Vice Chairman and President of China Federation of Literature Sun Jiazheng, Vice minister of the Ministry of Culture Zhao Shaohua, party secretary and deputy president of China Federation of Literature Hu Zhenmin, and leaders of Jilin Province attended the opening ceremony of the Art Week. The current Art Week planned and held a total of 15 activities.

"Meeting in Northeast Asia" symphony concert presented a musical feast for domestic and foreign dignitaries and guests. cultural and art sector representatives from six countries in Northeast Asia had in-depth discussions on the formation of Northeast Asian culture and future development trends, how to create new growth points for the cultural industry in Northeast Asia, at the Northeast Asian Art Exchange and Cultural Industry Development Forum.

A total of painting and photography works of artist from China, Japan, Korea, Russia, Mongolia, and North Korea were exhibited at the second session of the Northeast Asia International Fine Art Photography Exhibition. The "China has a city called Changchun" national painting and calligraphy exhibition was a national initiative and received a total of over 10,000 works from places all over China, including Jilin.

During the Art Week, pleasing performances will come one after another: the Russian royal dance performance, the international piano concert, the "We meet in Changchun" symphonic concert and other theatrical performances with the elements of Northeast Asia will come one after another. The organization of various cultural activities further enhanced cultural exchanges among the Northeast Asian countries and formed a very unique culture in Northeast Asia.

(VI) Popularity and Influence of the Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo further enhanced. The opening ceremony of this expo was magnificent, beautiful and colorful. More than 300 foreign dignitaries and guests were seated at the podium and a total of 15,000 domestic and overseas traveling merchants participated in it; the pavilion was beautifully decorated, with distinctive features; exhibits were rich in categories and had collection of perfect performances; the activities were well organized. It was highly praised and widely acclaimed by important political figures and businessmen attending the expo. During the expo, a total of 1,186 reporters from nearly 200 overseas and foreign media, media directly under the central government, media from other provinces and Jilin province formed a powerful reporting team. Among them, overseas and foreign media covering TV Tokyo, Japan NHK, Japan Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan Kyodo News, Good Morning Mongolia, Mongolia National Television, Europe Economic and Trade, South KoreaYonhap News Agency, Taiwan ETTV, Phoenix, Macao Daily News, and Northeast Asia (TV) amounted to 29; media directly under the central government covering People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, Economic Daily, China National Radio, China Radio International, China Central Television, China Daily, China News Agency, and China Trade News amounted to 30; and Internet media covering Xinhua Net, CCTV network, China Network, CNR, China News Network, International Online, Sina, and China Youth Online amounted to 21; and media from Jilin and other provinces amounted to over 100. A total of 11 media covering China National Radio, Jilin People's Radio News Broadcasting, Jilin People's Radio Voice of Jilin, Guangxi People's Radio Voice of Beibu Gulf, Xinhua net, Phoenix net, Sina, China News Network, China Jilin network, website of Jilin Provincial Government, and Jilin TV network set up studios in the exhibition hall for on-site tracking reports. CCTV, China Radio International, Xinhua Network, Sina, China Jilin Network, Jilin People's Radio, Jilin TV and other media arranged live broadcast for the opening ceremony. From August 31, the Xinhua News Agency and the Central People's Radio broadcasted overview of the expo; Sina opened a special column for it; from September 1, several media directly under the central government covering the People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, the Central People's Radio, China Central Television, Guangming Daily, and Economic Daily continuously broadcasted the expo. From September 2, nearly 200 media started centralized reports at the same time and promoted a series of new feature column programmes, forming a strong publicity effect. Jilin TV mobilized all channels to have live broadcast and live coverage and broadcasted a total of over 1000 news on the expo. Jilin Daily, City Evening News, East Asia Economic News, New Culture View, and other print media focused on pages for large-scale and in-depth coverage of the expo. China Jilin network opened more than 20 columns such as guest interviews, online investment, comments interpretation, net friends suggestions, and features of the conference, released a total of over 1,500 pieces of news through network graphic and video live broadcast, interviews and other means, and invited 34 provincial key news websites to arrange thematic links for the Northeast Asia Expo. Jilin People's Radio Station and Guangxi People's Radio Voice of Beibu Gulf jointly launched the Meeting in Jilin and Linking with ASEAN: Special Program for the Sixth China Jilin Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo, and had live broadcasts of the opening ceremony in English, Vietnamese, Thai and many other languages. Consuls General of Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and other countries recorded messages of congratulations for the Sixth Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo, which were played in the live broadcast. Extensive attention, active participation, and publicity by Chinese and foreign media further expanded the popularity of Jilin and enhanced the impact of the expo.

III. Preliminary Consideration on the Seventh Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo

The successful conclusion of the expo marked the start of the preparatory work of the seventh Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo. The seventh Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo will be held early in September 2011 in Changchun International Convention and Exhibition Centre. To continuously hold a good expo and for better exertion of the platform effect of regional cooperation, we have distributed 20,000 copies of invitation, more than 80,000 copies of relevant information and 3,000 questionnaires during this expo, to invite domestic and foreign traveling merchants to continue to participate in the expo, and to collect relevant comments and suggestions.

After the end of this expo, the Executive Committee will have a comprehensive study of the general plan for the seventh expo on the basis of comprehensive summary of the sixth expo. The general principle of planning is: Stick to innovation, adhere to features, stick to practical results, and continue to pursue a better expo.

Domestic and foreign media paid extensive attention to and actively participated in this expo, and made centralized and in-depth reports, making great contributions to the success of the expo.
