The Province to Have Colorful Cultural Activities for the 2011 Chinese New Year

As the 2011 Spring Festival is approaching, according to the requirements of the provincial party committee and government, the province s propaganda and cultural departments take early action, make coordination and arrangements, elaborately prepare colorful cultural activities for the Chinese New Year, and create a joyful, peaceful and civilized festive atmosphere through theatrical performances, sound and screen broadcasting, group activities and other forms, to promote the rich cultural life in urban and rural areas, to enrich people's lives.

Festival stage: wonderful performances will be put on stage in turns. The large original song and dance "Changbai Charm" will be staged 8 times in a row from December 23. With exquisite idea, heavy culture, fantastic stage, fine clothing and graceful dance, it has won wide acclaim, drawing a satisfactory conclusion for the 2010 cultural activities, but also representing the prelude to the cultural activities for 2011 New Year's Day and Spring Festival. From New Year's Day to the Spring Festival, the province s professional arts organizations have arranged nearly 100 performances of various types, including opera, song and dance, acrobatics, folk, song and dance duet, etc., and the cultural feast with static and dynamic combination suiting both refined and popular tastes will continue until the Lantern Festival. During New Year's Day holiday, a number of cultural activities are worth expecting. The 2011New Year's Concert carefully prepared by the Provincial Symphony Orchestra will be held in East Grand Theatre; the Provincial Beijing Opera Theater will perform opera highlights and new modern Peking Opera "Niu Zihou" selected scenes in Changchun Grand Opera Tower, and the Provincial Ji Opera Theater will perform classical Ji Opera "Fates of Three Sisters" and new modern Ji Opera "New Biography of Fates of Three Sisters" in Kanto Theatre. The Provincial Beijing Opera Theatre will perform the modern Beijing Opera "Niu Zihou" selected scenes for 10 times in the rural areas, the nursing home, the community and so on; the Provincial Ji Opera Theatre will perform Ji Opera and song and dance duet for farmers and troops; the Provincial Opera Troupe Co., Ltd. will perform comic, comedy, rap, beatboxing, double reed and other folk art programs for the nursing home elderly, military officers and farmers; the Provincial Song and Dance Troupe will visit and perform for the Provincial Orphan School.

On the Lunar New Year's Day, the Provincial Library will carry out the "Chinese New Year customs knowledge quiz" activity and the "presenting a reading card as a gift, celebrating Chinese New Year by reading" activity, but also hold the "joyful cinema for children" to broadcast their favorite films and animations.
