On the occasion that the nation proposes to promote free opening of the country s art galleries, public libraries and cultural centers (stations), in order to enhance the basic quality and level of public cultural services and form service brands, on Feb. 20, Provincial Library planned and started a major characteristic lecture "Jilin business forum", which invited renowned entrepreneurs and cultural scholars to discuss and probe into the concept and the historical causes of "Jilin business", to enhance the cultural connotation of "Jilin business", and play a role in promoting a new round of economic leap-forward development in Jilin Province. Provincial Library began to organize public lectures in 1995 and has held more than 500 ones. On the basis of the past "Changbai Forum", Provincial Library together with Provincial Federation of Social Science Circles, Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce other units started "Jilin business forum" with distinctive characteristics. The forum is initially to be held once a month, in the form of questions from the moderator and face-to-face exchanges and discussion between scholars and representatives of Jilin business, and focuses on discussing the collective personality of "Jilin business", how "Jilin business" carves a niche for itself, the development of "Jilin business" and other topics. On the afternoon of 20, the first "Jilin business forum" was held in Changchun Lucky Hotel, and invited scholars and guests such as President of the Provincial Academy of Social Sciences Bing Zheng, and Chairman of Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group Xiu Laigui who is the keynote speaker of the forum. The theme is about "Where is Jilin business", "How the concept of Jilin business can stand" and so on. As the province's richest man and the domestic pharmaceutical industry leader, Chairman of Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group Xiu Laigui is undoubtedly a typical representative of "Jilin business", and his understanding about "Jilin business" is enlightening. Xiu Laigui believed that the key difference between companies is the "difference in people", while the "difference in people" is reflected by the "difference in concept and thinking". Due to the impact of the "Shanxi business", "Zhejiang business" and "Anhui business" which have had widespread effects, "Jilin business" first and foremost is a geographical concept, and the temperament characteristics of this group are influenced by local culture to greater degree. The history and culture of the Northeast especially that of Jilin Province is the gene that forms the spirit of "Jilin business". For example, the fertile black soil of Jilin Province ensures stable yields in agriculture despite drought or excessive rain, so that people have formed such a dependent and conservative ideological foundation that they depend on Heaven for food and do not have to worry about survival. Half year's cold climate makes people to stay indoors for long, which makes them form the character of not going out for "development". In addition, the late Qing Dynasty's "braving the journey to Northeast" also causes a large number of immigrants from Shandong, Hebei and other places to move northward, the impact and integration of extraneous culture has also formed the opening and tolerant character of Northeast people. During the Anti-Japanese War, the Japanese imperialist aggression and 10 years of colonial rule on the Northeast also had an impact on the history and culture of Jilin. In addition, after the new China was founded, northeast, as the old industrial base has also formed a stable and solid approach to development. Taking together these factors, Xiu Laigui and Bing Zheng agreed that the "Jilin business" group as a whole is characterized by simpleness, honesty, integrity, "virtue" first, and attaching more importance to cooperation than competition in the course of business. However, it lacks business awareness, adventurous spirit and innovative spirit. These deficiencies are not matched with the business requirements of modern society, so we should actively cultivate the spirit of innovation, have courage to go out and courage to start business. At the same time, we should further enhance and promote the native good quality of "virtue" first and good faith of "Jilin business", expand the influence of "Jilin business", and seek more opportunities and space for "Jilin business". Bing Zheng and Xiu Laigui thought the present scale and image of "Jilin business" was "undesirable". According to Bing Zheng, when our province carried out large-scale restructuring of state-owned enterprises in 2004, private enterprises accounted for only 20%, after restructuring, the proportion increased to 40%; in spite of some development in recent years, the size of the private economy is still insufficient, and that is one of the reasons why the business climate is far from active in Jilin Province. For this end, we need to gather and refine the "Jilin business" spirit, form a unique business culture and business quality, to arouse the business awareness of the public, and jointly promote economic development. Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group is well-known all over the country for producing "conscientious, reassured and effective medicine". At the forum, Xiu Laigui talked about the drive for enterprises to become bigger and stronger bases on his unique business management.
