18th June, A delegation of 16 social workers from Indiana University, USA had an educational tour of He Ping Li Street s Xing Hua community which include exchanges and discussions of community works and activities. Deng Hai Hong, the head of Xing Hua Community Service Center received the visitors and accompanied them on their tour of Xing Hua community. Exchanges between the party committee of the community, the residential committee, comrades from the service center and social workers from Indiana University have resulted in a greater understanding of American ideology and methods with regards to community works.
The delegation had a tour of the community s facilities, the 1510 Residential Convenience Service initiative and the community s House of Health initiative and was also engaged in discussions with staffs of Xing Hua community on the common problems faced by both parties. The Xing Hua community had received praise and approval from the visitors for its residential services, such as the Home Care Services For The Elderly project, measures established by the community to provide a helping hand to the handicapped, specialized services provided by volunteers under the supervision of social workers and its ideology of integrating community services.
