Vice Economics Minister of Berlin Visited IBI

IBI Chairman Mr. Tu Xingjian and Ms Huang Linzhi, Director of Foreign Capital Department of Beijing Municipal Development & Reform Commission, met visiting Vice Minister of Senate Department for Economics of Berlin Government, Mr. Vlkmar Strauch, and his delegation including Mr. Roland Engels, General Manager of Berlin Partner and Mr. Sven Harpering, General Manager of Asia Pacific Forum.

Mr. Tu briefed on the functions, objectives and achievements of IBI and the development opportunities introduced by the 11th 5-year Plan and 2008 Olympics. Mr. Strauch said that he was deeply impressed by the fast development and construction of Beijing, stressing that Beijing and Berlin share many similarities in terms of infrastructure construction, strategic planning and clustering industries. Ms. Huang introduced the trading and investment policies promulgated by the Chinese government, as well as the development directions of Beijing in the next 10 years. She also expressed great interest in cooperation with Berlin in the areas of waste disposal, city management and traffic planning.

Mr. Roland Engels gave a presentation of objective and current situation of Berlin Partner. Mr. Sven Harpering elaborated the history, motivation, preparing works of the coming Asia-pacific Week next year in Berlin hosted by Asia-pacific Forum Berlin.

Through the visit, important common recognition was reached between the two parties on such issues of mutual initiatives of Berlin marketing in Beijing, Asia-pacific weeks in Berlin and International Energy-saving Expo in Beijing.
