Taiwan residents received a taste of Hebei s rich art tradition at the Hebei Culture s Tour in Taiwan folk art exhibition August 31.

Ten Hebei artists showed off their skills at booths in Hualian Cultural Center in Taiwan s Hualian county.

Lily, a devoted Hualian fan of traditional Chinese painting, stood for more than an hour in front of the booth of painter Wang Liming to have a closer look at Wang s skill in hopes of learning something from him. Lily said traditional Chinese painting is a gem of Chinese traditional culture and that fewer Taiwanese have the opportunity to learn about this great art form.

"I m always craving outstanding works and talking to professional painters. Chatting with Mr Wang benefits me greatly, Lily said.

Chen Maocai, the vice president of Hebei Calligraphy Association, also had a popular booth. After dipping it full of ink, Chen wielded his writing brush freely and easily on paper, with tender strokes.

"It s Brilliant. Strength and tenderness are coupled so well in Mr. Chen s writing that it has a natural rhythm, one Taiwan resident, Mr Gao, said. After learning of Mr Gao s lives in northeast China and suffers from homesickness, Chen sent one of his works to the senior citizen. His kind act won loud applause from visitors.
