On May 15, 2009, the 31st spring track and field sports meeting was held at NUC. The opening ceremony consisting of aircraft model performance, wind ensemble, Erhu, Pipa, etc, lasted over three hours. Leaders of the school and the departments attended the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, 2008 sports advanced units were awarded, including the School of Sports & Art, the School of Graduate and the School of Economics and Management.
During the following two days, 14 teams, over 1000 athletes from different colleges and schools took part in the sports meeting this year. The aim of the sports meeting is to push physical sports in the university, to enrich campus life, and to demonstrate student athletics skills. Finally, the School of Sports & Art won the First Prize, the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation won the Second Prize, the School of Graduate won the third prize, the School of Information and Communication Engineering wins the forth Prize, etc. Spiritual Awards and Outstanding Media Coverage Awards were awarded later. At the meeting, one student broke the school record.
