National Symposium to Commemorate 85th Anniversary of Liao Zhongkai s Death was held in HZU

On the morning of 20th August, the national symposium to commemorate 85th anniversary of Liao Zhongkai s death was held in school library. At the opening ceremony, Secretary Li Xiufeng made an opening speech and Huang Xinlin, deputy director of Huizhou Standing Committee of the NPC, also gave a speech. Many celebrities from different walks of life attended the symposium, including Liao Zhongkai s grandson, Liao Chun, Secretary of Zhongkai Hi-Tech Venture Center, Zhong Yier and scholars from six different provinces. The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice-President Peng Yonghui.

Deputy director Huang Xinlin said, Culture is the overall Soft Power and core competence of urban development, and cultural construction and economic, political and social construction relates to and promotes each other. As a historical and cultural city, Huizhou entails a rich traditional culture. Mr. Liao Zhongkai s high morality and spirit is one of our precious treasures for cultural development. The purpose of this symposium is to update the research achievements on M.t Liao Zhongkai and inspire citizens to devote themselves in the development of Huizhou with sense of responsibility and pride.

Brief introduction of Mr. Liao Zhongkai:

Mr. Liao Zhongkai is a famous modern activist of democratic revolution, patriot, KMT leftist leader, and a close friend of Communist Party of China. He alsois Sun Yat-sen's right-hand man and main founder of the Whampoa Military Academy.In 1903, he followed the Sun Yat-sen in democratic revolutionary movement and advocated Three Major Policies " alliance with Russia, co-operation with the Communist Party and assistance to the peasants and workers. He makes a great contribution in China national independence, unity and liberation. At the age of 47,he was assassinated by a KMT rightist, devoting his life to China revolutionary cause.
