HZU Holds Foreign Teachers Symposium to Celebrate Teacher s Day

In china, as abroad, it is customary to respect teachers and their teaching. On the afternoon of 8th, September, before the 26th Chinese Teacher s Day, HZU held a foreign teachers' symposium to celebrate the festival. Party Secretary Li Xiufeng, President Yang Haitao, vice-president Peng Yonghong and oficials from the Foreign Affairs Office, the Department of Personnel, and the Studies Affairs Office presented the symposium. It was held by vice-president Peng Yonghong.

Teachers from America, Britain, Japan, Canada and New Zealand shared their experience working at HZU, giving advice on aspects of teaching, research, and daily life. They unanimously appreciated HZU's beautiful campus, kind teachers, students, and their comfortable jobs. They also thanked teachers and students for listening to their concerns and offering support. Among these foreign teachers was a Japanese teacher who has worked in HZU for 7 years. He felt profoundly that Chinese students current situation differed from that of Japanese students. He said that HZU s students study hard with upright study manners. He also admitted that it s a pleasure to teach at HZU.

In his speech, President Yang pointed out that the many foreign teachers working at HZU brought new ideas for HZU s teaching reformation and positively promoted HZU s internationalization. In the future, he continued, with expansion of the scale of schooling and more foreign teachers joining our ranks, HZU s course construction, national research projects and international schooling will strike forward to a higher level. In the end, President Yang expressed his sincere thanks to the foreign teachers who in their spare time worked for HZU s book publications, academic lectures, and construction of our English web page.

At the end of the symposium, Secretary Li said that after interviewing many students, he understood that students thought highly of our foreign teachers. He summarized the work of foreign teachers as preparing effective lessons, teaching earnestly, and abiding by Chinese law. Being kind to students and teachers, they always take pleasure in helping people. Meanwhile, they are willing to give constructive advices and actively take part in many kinds of activities. In the end, Secretary Li hoped foreign teachers would feel at home in HZU and work hard to promote the university's internationalization so as to develop more and more talents for society.
