To be a teacher is great, but it is greater to be a teacher of my Alma Mater, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT). I am thankful for my alma mater, who turns my long-cherished dream into reality. Hardly when Mr. Zhao Houlin, outstanding alumnus of NJUPT, ITU Deputy Secretary-General, finished his speech, a roar of applause rose in the hall. It was an exciting moment --- at 16 o'clock on December 28, 2009, when a ceremony was held in the Auditorium of Science Hall on the SanPaiLou campus to welcome Professor Zhao Houlin, ITU Deputy Secretary -General return to his alma mater and invite him to be the Honorary Dean of the department of Communications and Information Engineering.
YANG Xiang-Ning, Vice Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, on behalf of Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, Cao Weixing, expressed warm welcome and heartfelt congratulation to Zhao s joint in NJUPT.
Professor Min Chunfa, Secretary of the CPC NJUPT Committee, presided over the ceremony. In his speech on behalf of 30000 faculties and students of NJUPT he expressed the most cordial welcome and appreciated Professor Zhao Houlin accepting our school s invitation. He said that Professor Zhao Houlin s joint in NJUPT is the honor and pride of NJUPT.
Professor Yang Zhen, President of NJUPT, awarded the appointment letter and employee s card to Professor Zhao Houlin, and made a speech. He delivered sincere gratitude to Mr. Zhao Houlin for his concern and love for his alma mater, who, in a variety of ways, helped to support the construction of his alma mater. In the future we expect that with the support of Professor Zhao greater progress will be made in promoting both teaching and scientific research, as well as exchange and cooperation in the telecommunication industry at home and abroad.
Professor Zhao Houlin in his speech expressed sincere gratitude for his alma mater. He said that he was greatly honored to be a teacher in his alma mater, and fortunate to achieve a long-cherished wish of his; "NJUPT is my alma mater, and I think every NJUPT alumnus loves his alma mater and has a deep alma mater complex." He reviewed his personal experience and the development of the telecommunications industry in China and the world development process, and looks to the future development of information industry. He was pleased to see the rapid development of NJUPT in recent years, and encouraged everyone to be confident and courageous and flexible, "Do not only learn mechanically in class. You should go to the outside world, to the international stage, play an active role on it, and occupy a place in the telecommunications field." He hoped that all faculties and students of NJUPT will take greater steps and make greater contributions for China's information industry.
