On March 7, 2011 International Classes in Navigation and International Shipping Management welcomed 25 exchange students from America, Germany, Poland, Russia, Korea and Canada. They would study with Chinese students for one semester.

Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU hosted the welcoming banquet on the evening of March 6. Dr. Chen Qi, Director of International Office of Massachusetts Maritime Academy as well as faculty members of Merchant Marine College and Transport College attended the banquet party.

During the welcoming banquet, Vice President Jin delivered a welcome address. He said the university would spare no efforts to create an agreeable environment all international. Prof. Jin also encouraged them to work hard on professional knowledge and skills and to learn about Chinese history and culture.

Dr. Qi Chen expressed high appreciations to SMU in organizing the international classes, through which MMA students had a really wonderful time in Shanghai last year. She encouraged 2011 exchange students to find ways to adapt to the life in China soon, and hoped them to play a good part as the friendship bridge between MMA and SMU.
