2010 Cultural Study Camp to South Korea Returns

From July 26 to August 4, 12 students from Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU) spent 7 days on cultural studies in the Republic of Korea. These students were led by Li Youmou, Deputy Director of Human Resources Department, Qu Honggang, Chief of section of Student Affairs Department, and Li Juan from International Programs Office.

On the morning of July 27, Kyungpook National University (KNU) extended a warm welcome and generous hospitality to delegation from SNNU. In return, Deputy Director Li Youmou, on behalf of the delegation from SNNU, presented gifts to KNU and its faculties.

The camp members participated in various activities during their stay in the Republic of Korea. Visiting the campus of KNU made them acquaint with the educational philosophy of KNU; lectures on Korean traditional culture, Hanbok try-on, and traditional Korean food had them know Korean traditional cuisine and costume culture. Korean Agricultural Music, Taekwondo and other activities offered the chances for them to feel the national character of the Republic of Korea.

In addition, the delegation visited several famous places such as Busan Nurimaru APEC House, Andong Hahoe Folk Village, and Posco. They also visited several museums, namely, National Museum of Korea, Andong Folk Museum, Andong Soju Museum. During their stay in South Korea, camp members were offered many opportunities to know the endeavors and achievements South Koreans have dedicated and acquired in developing their traditional culture. And the excellent behavior of the students from SNNU was highly appreciated by faculties and students in KNU.

Seven days cultural travel in the Republic of Korea has helped SNNU students know more about contemporary South Korea, its traditional culture and national character. By this cultural camp the students not only intensified their patriotism but also improved their international horizon. Furthermore, this communication has also deepened the bilateral friendships between SNNU and KNU, laying a sound foundation for further cooperation and communication. (Trans. Liu Chao)
