From October 25 to 26, 2009, Dr. Zhao Wei, the outstanding alumnus of Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU), President of Macau University, paid a return visit to his alma mater. On behalf of the school, Prof. Jiang Xiule, the Secretary of the Party Committee, conferred the Medal of Distinguished Alumni Zhao.
During the two days visit, Zhao was honorably interviewed by the Press Center of the school. On the evening of October 25, 2009, Zhao Wei gave a talk on his work and life in China and the US at Jixuetang. On the morning of October 26, 2009, Zhao Wei had an informal discussion with teachers and students from College of Physics and Information Technology, and then visited the Chang an campus.
Dr.Zhao Wei is world renown Chinese-American scholar, and he took the post as the eighth President of Macau University on November 10, 2008.He graduated from the Physics Department of Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU), and successively obtained master and doctor degree of Computer and Information Science in the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) respectively in 1983 and 1986.
