A delegation of Curtin University, Australia visits NPU

Vice President Wang Wei met with the delegation led by Professor Andris Stelbovics, vice president of CurtinUniversityon Dec. 2, 2010. Present at the meeting are Sun Yu, deputy director of Office for International Cooperation and a professor from School of Mechanical Engineering.

Vice President Wang Wei extends his warm welcome to Vice President Andris Stelbovics. He point outs that Curtin University is one of renowned research universities in Australia and that NPU is willing to establish cooperative relations and hopes to cooperate in the areas of the CSC postgraduate program, exchange students, faculty exchange visits and research.

He also welcomes the students and faculty of Curtin University to NPU for academic exchange. During the meeting both sides reach the consensus that they will carry out the comprehensive cooperation in the broad areas of marine engineering, machine manufacturing, IT, computer engineering and science.

Mr. Andris Stelbovicssays that the purpose of his special trip to NPU is to carry out the substantial cooperation and exchange with NPU and emphasizes that NPU as one of the 985 universities will be taken as one of its key partner universities in the world. He agrees that the two universities will cooperate in the CSC postgraduate program and that his university will admit NPU's excellent students for PhD degree studies or joint education next year.

Mr. Wang concludes that through the meeting, the two universities have reached the preliminary intent on exchange and cooperation, hoping that the president of Curtin University will visit NPU and sign its cooperation agreement next March.
