Recently, State Ministry of Education (SME) announced the evaluation results of 2008 national experimental areas for talent cultivation pattern innovation. SCUT has made great breakthrough in the election with two projects entitled, i.e. the experimental area for electronic information major entrepreneurial talent cultivation pattern presided by Prof.

WEI Gang, dean of School of Electronic and Information Engineering, and the experimental area for software talent cultivation pattern led by Prof. MIN Huaqing, dean of School of Software Engineering. It is first time for the University to get projected in this area at the national level.

Initiated in 2007, the construction of the experimental areas for talent cultivation pattern innovation is a key component of the "quality project" proposed by SME. In 2008, there were altogether 100 national experimental areas for talent cultivation pattern innovation being evaluated, among which 30 supported entrepreneurship education and 20 were for software engineering talent cultivation pattern innovation.
