Recently, the team led by academician HE Jingtang from SCUT Architecture Design and Research Institute won the bid of designing QIAN Xuesen Library in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which was another success they made in bidding for key projects in Shanghai after the project of the Chinese Pavilion of Shanghai World Expo.
QIAN Xuesen, known as "the Father of Chinese missiles", is one of the most well-known scientists in contemporary China. Similar to president libraries in America, QIAN Xuesen Library is actually a state-approved celebrity memorial hall to be built on Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. After its completion, the Library will be listed among the country's patriotic education model centers.
It will become the literature and objects collection center in different times of QIAN's life, the exhibition center of QIAN's scientific achievements, research spirits, noble virtues and legendary life, as well as the research & exchanges center of his scientific thoughts and spirits.
