Tug-of-war competition Playing games
On the afternoon of April 26, the 1st South Campus graduate carnival and Chinese & foreign student exchange meeting was held on the west square of South Campus Dining Hall 2. The activity consisted of the opening ceremony, the garden party, and the tug-of-war competition.

At the opening ceremony, the Chinese and foreign students presented the audience a wonderful cultural performance. LUO Wei, an overseas student from Congo, sang the pop song "Big city, little love"; and Thai overseas students performed excellent dances, both of which won thunderous applause from the audience.

There were 8 booths in the garden party, respectively representing over 10 countries. Each booth contained an introduction to local customs and culture, exotic handicrafts, traditional snacks, games, and band performances etc. The last activity was the exciting tug-of-war competition. The foreign students were very excited about the game as it was the first time for them to play it.

Responsible personnel of South Campus student management office hoped that more activities of the same kind can be held in the future as it is a good way to enhance communications between Chinese and foreign students, and to promote their friendship. The overseas students said in unfluent Chinese that the Chinese students were hospitable and that they felt at home in SCUT. Everyone was looking forward to the 2nd carnival.
