On May 25, Mr. LI Haowen, vice chairman and executive director of Hong Kong Siyuan Foundation, paid a visit to SCUT and was warmly welcomed by Vice President ZHANG Zhengang. Relevant personnel from Student Affairs Office and Public Relations Department were present at the meeting.
Vice President ZHANG Zhengang extended sincere gratitude towards the benevolence of the Foundation in helping impoverished students in SCUT. He pointed that social organizations like Hong Kong Siyuan Foundation have given a helping hand to SCUT students in their study and living, which has boosted the work of talents cultivation in SCUT.
Mr. LI Haowen introduced the Foundation and held a face-to-face talk with the foundation-supported students, after which he visited the university's history hall and the campuses.
Established in 1997, Hong Kong Siyuan Foundation offers financial support to impoverished students in domestic key universities. It initiated the Siyuan scholarship in SCUT in 2005, offering 0.24 million yuan to 60 impoverished students each year.
