On the afternoon of June 8, the Guangzhou final of "Creativity in Youth---College EXPO Debate Contest of the Two Shores and Four Regions" was held at the studio of Guangdong TV Station. The debate team from South China University of Technology (SCUT) won the championship by defeating Xiamen University (XMU). ZHANG Zhengang, vice-president of SCUT, presented the award to the winning team. Being the Guangzhou division champion, SCUT gets the qualification for the Final event as one of the top 16.
The debate topic was "Will the trend of urban development display convergence or divergence of human civilization?" Being the affirmative, SCUT held the view that the trend of urban development will display convergence of human civilization. The excellent presentation of the four members won tremendous applause and made SCUT the champion.
