On September 2, the opening ceremony of 2010 Cross-strait Summer Sports Camp was held in South China University of Technology (SCUT). A 20-member delegation of Taiwan University, Tainan University and Taiwan Normal University visited SCUT. Vice-president QIU Xueqing attended the opening ceremony and extended his warm welcome to the Taiwan guests.
On the forum, QIU encouraged colleges on both sides to start various communications and mutual visits on appropriate fields. A letter of intent was decided on the exchange of gymnastic students, which would be carried out in 2011.
During the camp period, Taiwan students played tennis, pingpong and badminton with students from Jinan University, South China Normal University and SCUT. They also visited the Asian Games Stadium and Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center and took part in various activities like one-day tour in Guangzhou, and night cruise in the Pearl River. By those activities, communication and friendship was deepened between students on both sides of the strait.
