On Dec 21st, the national symposium on the role of philosophy and social science in higher education was held in Central Conference Room, 11F of Liwu science & Technology Building, SCUT.
President LI Yuanyuan, on behalf of SCUT, extended his warm welcome to the present school officials and experts. In his addressing he pointed out that the education of philosophy and social science had never been neglected though the advantageous disciplines of SCUT were science and technology, moreover, SCUT had been working hard in delving into the way of developing good personalities of the students and richening the cultural atmosphere. A lot of achievements in talents training and students' social practice have been made with the help of philosophy and social science.
In the symposium, schools from around the country exchanged with each other their insights in the educational function of philosophy and social science and reached a consensus that it was of great significance in exploring the internal law of the educational function of philosophy and social science and bringing it into full play.
