Delegation from Maranatha Christian University Visiting JNU(43172)

A delegation of 6 members led by President Prof.Ir.H.P.Septoratno Siregar,DEA., Maranatha Christian University, Bandung, Indonesia, paid a visit to JNU on March 30. JNU President Prof. Hu Jun, Vice President Jia Yimin received the guests. This is the second time for the delegation to visit our university after the first visit in 2004. On the basis of the prior visit, the two sides further discussed issues including collaborative project and approaches, etc.

After a warm welcome, president Hu gave a brief introduction to the current development of our university to the guests. president Hu said the visit was a good beginning of the cooperation between Maranatha Christian University and our university. He also expressed his believe that the cooperation will further promote the friendship of people between Indonesia and China.

Mr. Septoratno Siregar said the delegation was deeply impressed by the long history, the strength and the excellence of JNU after visting JNU history exhibition, College of Chinese Language and Culture and Medical College of JNU. He also said Maranatha Christian University was very glad to cooperate concretely with JNU, and also gave a warm invitation to president Hu to visit their university.

Other members of the delegation include Mr. Dr. dr. Felix Kasim, M. Kes, vice president; Mr. Ir. Heru Susilo, M.Sc, President Consultant and Director of Cultural Affairs Office; Lin Yuting, Director of Chinese undergraduate course; Chen Juanjuan and the president s wife Mrs.Widya Suharto,S.S. Prof. Mo Haibing, Vice Dean of College of Chinese Language; Prof. Luo Huanmin, Vice Dean of Medical College and Ms. Yu Huifen, Director of the International Affairs Office of JNU attended this audience.

Maranatha Christian University (MCU) was founded on September 11, 1955 by Perkumpulan Intelegensia Kristen Cabang Bandung (Christian Scientist Fellowship-Bandung Chapter) with the support of Gereja Kristen Indonesia Christian Church) and Gereja Kristen Pasundan (Pasundan Christian Church). It is the one and only Christianity university in western Java of Indonesia. The medical faculty of the university was the first one to be established with the university and is ranked the 5^th place among Indonesian universities. Currently, the university has 7 faculties, 22 department, offering 3 master degree programs and 4 undergraduate programs.
