Delegation from JNU Visiting Canada

From Nov. 9th to 14th, Prof. Lin Rupeng, Vice President of Jinan University and Prof. Zhang Ronghua, Director of the Academic Affairs Office visited Canada. They attended Canada-China Education Partnership Forum of the 43rd CBIE Annual Conference (Canadian International Education Conference) and also visitedSaint Mary s University, partner university of JNU.

CBIE is a national non-governmental organization comprised of 200 colleges, universities, school boards, educational organizations and businesses. The theme of this year is Internationalization Effectiveness: Strategies for success . Nearly 400 representatives from Canada, China, America, Germany, Australia, and Brazil had jointly inquired into strategies of promoting internationalization in education in the context of globalization.

Vice President Lin introduced participants the situation of international exchange and cooperation in education and research of Jinan University, especially the achievements in Chinese language education, courses taught in English, exchange student programs, establishment of the Confucius Institute, introduction of overseas high-level experts, joint laboratories and co-operation in scientific research.

Nov. 12the and 13th, Vice President Lin visited Saint Mary s University and had a meeting with Dr. Colin Dodds, President of the university. Both sides reviewed the cooperation background and the work already undertaken, and reached a series of consensus on further expanding cooperation and exchange fields and forms, such as expanding the scale of exchange students, increasing the exchange of teachers, teaching and research, and establishing Confucius Institute and EMBA program jointly.

President Colin Dodds was also invited to pay a return visit to JNU in mid-December to have a further discussion about related matters on cooperation and exchange. During the visit to St. Mary's University, Vice President Lin also met the first batch of visiting teachers and exchange students from JNU and had lunch with them.
