Consul General of Germany Visiting Jinan University

Mr. Eberhard Schuppius, Consul General of Germany in Guangzhou, paid a visit to Jinan University on Dec.14th. This is his second visit to Jinan the year. During the visit, Mr. Schuppius gave a presentation on history, current situation and future development of EU with students from the International School.

Mr. Schuppius firstly introduced to the audience the history of the EU. Then he analyzed the structure and the three key players in EU: the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the European Commission. At last, he compared EU with other countries by population, area, wealth, GDP per capita, and mentioned the three major challenges EU is facing: population, globalization and climate change.

The presentation was followed by heated questions on problems including EU member countries, Euro, central bank and exchange rate, etc.
