Xinghai Voice Choral Festival Coming to an End Successfully

Along with the passionate melody Ode to the Yellow Rive , the Fourth Sun Yat-sen University Postgraduate 5 4 Xinghai Voice Choral Festival came to an end successfully. It is the first time that the festival was held at north, south, and east campus on 28th, 29th, and 30th respectively, which attracted 27 teams and more than 5000 teachers and students from 30 departments to participate, rating the highest in terms of number of participants. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and School of Life Sciences claimed the first prize of north, east and south campus competitions respectively. Yu Shiyou, vice Party secretary and vice president of the University, Zhu Kongjun, vice Party secretary of the University, and Li Xiangzhi, University president assistant, attended the event.

The participating teams performed the famous work Yellow River Cantata composed by the famous musician Xian Xinghai, and three other musical works Mother Land Never Forget , Guests from Far Away Please Stay , Nan Ping Wan Zhong that featured either ardent passion or light loveliness. Huang He Yuan , Huang He Dui Kou Qu , Shan Gao Shui Chang were performed during the competition, adding spice to the event. 3 First Prize Awards, 3 Second Prize Awards, 8 Third Prize Awards, 12 Excellence Awards, and 6 Best Music Conductor Awards were conferred. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and School of Life Sciences claimed the First Prize Awards at north, east and south campus competitions respectively. The organization will hold the summary ceremony and confer the Best Organization Award on 13 May.

People attending the event included presiding staff from Organization Department of the SYSU Committee of the CPC, Publicity Department of the SYSU Committee of the CPC, Student Affairs Office, SYSU Youth Association, Graduate School, Faculty of Medical Sciences, CPC Eastern Campus Committee, Alumni Affairs & Education Development Office, Career Development Counseling Center. Zhou Zhengsong, Deng Jianzhuang from other universities, and teachers from the Art Education Center served as the judges of the singing competition.
The activity was organized by the Graduate School, the SYSU Youth Association and the Graduate Student Union. The choral festival is the biggest graduate student activity with the most extensive participation, featuring as the brand of graduate student culture.
