The First Guangdong Youth Environmental Protection Forum held in SYSU

Hosted by All China Environment Federation, Sun Yat-Sen University, Environmental Protection of Guangdong Province and The Guangdong Communist Youth League, the First Guangdong Youth Environmental Protection Forum was held on the south campus of SYSU on June 5th. The subject of the forum was Environment, Responsibility, and Development---Low Carbon, Emission Reduction and Green Life .
On behalf of SYSU, Vice President Chen Chun Sheng expressed his warm welcome to all the participants. Dr. Du raodong, a leading expert from the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau, gave a speech calling for environmental protection and advocating a low-carbon life. The forum was divided into two parts: expert forum and youth forum, the themes of which were Actions to Climate Change from the perspective of Guangdong province and Youth s Responsibility and Action towards Climate Change and Environment protection respectively. The expert forum was hosted by Zhu jiangang, Dean of The Institute for Civil Society of SUSY. Prof. Yang zhongyi from School of Life Sciences, Prof. Chen zunyu from School of Environmental Science and Engineering and Prof. Qin jian from The First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU also stated their opinions respectively towards the influence of climate change to biodiversity, the understanding of climate change and the influence of climate change to health from different prospectives. They also exchanged ideas with the youth present on climate change.

At the end of the forum, the youth read the Youth Environmental Protection Declaration, and committed to be bearers of environmental protection and practitioners of green life. They urged that energy saving and emission reduction, green Guangzhou Asian Games and low-carbon life should not be just a slogan but an action.
