May 26th, Gerardus't Hooft, a Netherlandish theoretical physicist who was awarded 1999 Nobel Laureate in Physics was invited to give a lecture on Black Holes in Elementary Particle Physics at the Sun Yat-sen Nobel Masters Series forum .
This lecture was presided over by Xu Ningsheng, Vice-president of SYSU. Lei Fengyun, Deputy Director of UNESCO of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and Tang Shihua, Vice-chairman of Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology were also present at the lecture. more than 300 had attended the lecture, including teachers and students from Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, South China Normal University, Guangzhou University, and many other universities and student representatives of physical competition award..
Prof Hooft began his lecture with the molecular structure of the macro candy, showing the basic structure and nature of the microscopic interaction of outstanding efforts and the basic blueprint. He introduced the theory of quantum gravity on the bold idea of micro-particles and black holes and the wonderful connection between the possible. At the lecture he showed his expectation success of CERN's Hadron Collider (LHC) and also gave denied argumentation of the possibility of a devastating black hole by Hadron Collider. Since its inception in 2008, the "Sun Yat-sen Nobel Masters Series platform has been successfully held for four sessions, involving fields of chemistry, physics, medicine and physiology, which got enthusiastic response from all sectors. This lecture is the fifth session of the series, as it was sponsored by SYSU and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and co-sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Association and Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts. After the lecture, Zhong Minyan, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Foreign Experts greeted Prof Hooft.
