On the morning of December 24, the 2010 Chinese Language and Culture Winter Camp for Chinese Teenagers from Southeast Asia declared opening in Academic Auditorium in Zhishan Building. This winter camp was organized by China Overseas Exchange Association, sponsored by Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People s Government of Hunan Province, undertaken by Hunan Normal University. More than 120 Chinese teenagers from Indonesia and Thailand gathered in Changsha to enjoy 15 days of traveling and learning.

Yang Ling, Dean of International College of Chinese Language and Culture, Tang Cunzhong, Vice Director of Office of International Exchange and Communication attended the ceremony hosted by Peng Liwei, Director of President Office. Ms. Pei Xue from China Overseas Exchange Association, and Jiang Hongxin, Vice-President of HNU presented the flag to the representatives of winter camp.

Jiang Hongxin, on behalf of our university, extended warm welcome to camp members, leaders, and guests. Since 2003, Hunan Normal University had undertaken 9 summer (winter) camps and received over 1,000 Chinese teenagers from different corners on this planet. The university had attached great importance to the service quality, and unique features in the management of camp, which had left a deep impression on the guide as well as the campers. Jiang Hongxin promised that our university will spare no effort in providing good service to these Chinese teenagers and in building a bridge for them to learn Chinese Culture. He hoped camp members broaden their horizons, enhance their understanding of Chinese culture, foster their friendship with their peers in China, and serve as messenger of Chinese culture.Yang Ling sent her best wishes to the winter camp, hoping that these teenagers can make new friends, learn more about colorful Chinese culture, and foster the identity of China.

The representative of the campers, as well as the guide, gave a speech before the hand-over ceremony of camp flag.

In the days to come, the campers would study Chinese language and culture, calligraphy, paper-cutting, Wushu, and dancing. Meanwhile, they would pay visit to Hunan Provincial Museum, National Forest Park in Zhang Jiajie, as well as Former Residence of Chairman Mao. Also there would be social activities between the campers and students of the High School Attached to HNU.
