The Science and Technology Award of Nanjing University was presented at NJU`s 108th Anniversary
Today (May 20) is the 108th founding anniversary of Nanjing University (NJU). The University held a celebration meeting on Xianlin Campus to commemorate this special anniversary. The celebration was presided over by Prof. Zhang Rong, Executive Vice President of Nanjing University.
Prof. Chen Jun, President of Nanjing University, spoke at the meeting. In his speech, Prof. Chen Jun pointed out the three most important tasks for NJU to perform for the next ten years: to build a modern campus, to build a top-notch faculty team, and to carry forward and develop NJU s university culture. He encouraged NJU faculty and students to strive to build a world-class university.
NJU Chancellor Prof. Hong Yinxing, President Prof. Chen Jun, Academician Prof. Sun Yisui and Academician Prof. Wu Rongsheng presented the Science and Technology Award of Nanjing University to Prof. Zhang Xianwen, first prize winner of the 5th Award for Research Achievements in the Humanities and Social Sciences (Ministry of Education), Prof. Tan Renxiang, second prize winner of the State Natural Science Award, Prof. Ren Hongqiang, second prize winner of the State Technological Invention Award, and Prof. Qiu Yong, second prize winner of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
Prof. Zhang Xianwen, Vice Chancellors Yang Zhong and Ren Lijian, Vice Presidents Min Tiejun, Pan Yi and Xue Hailin also presented the Teaching Award of Nanjing University to Prof. Lu Dexin and Zhou Jin, first prize winners of the 6th National Teaching Achievement Award, Prof. Xu Shijin, Prof. Shen Kunrong, Prof. Zhou Xiaohong and Prof. Liu Houjun, winners of the National Award for Distinguished Teachers.
Prof. Lu Yanqing of the School of Modern Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Wang Weijia, a student of the Department of Information Management, also spoke at the celebration on behalf of NJU faculty and students.
