he 18th International Fashion Fair (IFF) will start from the 16th to the 18th of July 2008 at Tokyo Big Sight. With
participation of more than 800 exhibitors, that is larger than ever before, the fair is now the biggest and the most recognized
event for the fashion industry in Japan.

The initial mission of the IFF is to provide both suppliers such as manufactures, brand makers and designers and buyers
from every market and distribution channel with the opportunity to meet each other in as big a marketplace as possible, so that
suppliers can get access to a number of buyers while buyers can benefit from one stop buying through the three-day event.

Organized by Japan’s most influential fashion trade newspaper, SENKEN SHIMBUN (Daily News of Fashion Business),
IFF launched its first fair in 2000. Since then, this twice-a-year event (in January and July) has expanded its size and the
number of exhibitors has increased to 817 at the 17th fair from 387 at the first one.
As a fair has become as big as IFF, key to the success is the variety of products the fair provides. IFF features every category
in the fashion market for both men and women, ranging from designers, contemporary to casual, from apparel to accessories.
The three-day event attracts approximately 30,000 buyers each time.
It is a main stream of the whole event. 70% of the exhibitors showcase their products in IFF. At IFF, you can find most of the
fashion products the market needs: contemporary, casual and active sporting wear, shoes, bags and other accessories in both
men and ladies categories.

Creator's village

A unique setup designed to incubate newcomers in
Japan’s fashion scene. Each time, it introduces more than
100 young yet talented designers, newly born brands and
small but interesting companies at one area. It also
introduces newcomers from all over the globe using a booth
exchange program with foreign exhibitions such as CPH
Vision, UPSIDE, MARGIN and many others. At the 17th
edition, the Village displays 140 brands including 40 new
ones.

TERROIR
A new project that has started since the 16th IFF. TERROIR is
a destination for buyers looking for products or designs that are
foreign and uncharted but unique. The 2nd edition features
Montréal collection supported by State Government of Quebec,
Canada, and “Fashion Ring” from Italy.

Love
The zone bridges IFF and TERROIR focusing on kid’s
fashion including layette, toddlers and teens. At the 17th IFF, LOVE features Spanish delegates of children’s wear
“ASPERI” and Danish kid’s fashion.

Sourcing
Last but not least, SOURCING zone is one of the highlights of IFF where buyers can actually browse and choose their own
supply chain from a variety of manufacturers across the globe literally just in one day. Exhibition lineups include manufacturers
from China, Hong Kong, South Korea and India.

DATA

As the data shows, the size of IFF has been expanding almost every year. The number of exhibitors of the 17th IFF nearly
doubled compared to the 1st fair in 2000.
