Xiushui Street, also known as the Silk Street, is the site of a market that is a favorite for foreign tourists in Beijing. With a total floor area of 28,000 square meters, the market contains 410 booths, about 1,000 businessmen, and generates an annual sales volume of about 100 million yuan. Most of the booths sell export-oriented clothing, silk fabrics and other typically Chinese goods.

Xiushui Street is also known as Embassy Street because it is close to many embassies, nineteen of China's time-honored brands occupy a total area of 5,000 square meters, or one quarter of the total area of the market, giving the market the highest density of time-honored brands in China. Several famous foreign tourists are known to frequent Xiushui Street during their visits into China, including Jacques Chirac, the former president of France, as well as many others.
