Efforts to Be Made on Quality Tracing of State Farm Products

Meeting on the quality tracing system project (2010) held by the Bureau of Agricultural Reclamation

In order to implement the No.1 Central Document and the decisions made by various meetings concerning agriculture, state farms and agricultural product quality and safety, MOA Bureau of Agricultural Reclamation held the meeting on the quality tracing system project of state farm products (2010) from April 8 to 9. Deputy Director-General Hu Jianfeng made a speech on the meeting concerning new efforts in this regard, summarizing the experience, outcomes and challenges of the project in the past two years, analyzing new situations for the project, and arranging the work in 2010.

The Deuty Director-General pointed out that product quality and safety had remained the priority for the state farming system while developing modern technology and production bases. In particular, the quality tracing project, started in 2008, has provided an integrated and coordinated working system, promoted standardized agricultural production, and taken an effective part in ensuring the quality and safety of agricultural products. The project has built up the brand image of high quality products and fulfilled the expectation of consumers. With the expansion of the tracing system and the participation of more local enterprises, the project has demonstrated both economic and social benefits

In 2010, the project will continue with the concept of implementing the scientific outlook of development, relevant laws, directives from the Central Government and arrangement of the Ministry, following the principle of being recordable, observable, detectable and traceable, integrating standard establishment, standardized production and product certification, and promoting the development of the tracing system step by step and in an all round way with the assistance of information technology. The project aims to provide an information platform for quality regulation, promote leading companies in this regard and formulate a quality regulation system on agricultural products suitable for China. The state farming system will play the leading role in modern agriculture for better quality and safety situations of China s agricultural products.

Deputy Director-General Hu gave specific arrangement for the project in 2010 based on the above concept:

Enhancing institutional establishment for better guidance. Improving information system for better support. Organizing and arranging the field work for implementation. Enhancing awareness and identifying requirement to implement the project in targeted enterprises. Upholding accountability with clear division of work and thorough regulation on quality. Strengthening public promotion to play a better leading role. Reinforcing agricultural standardization to provide a good foundation to build on.Setting up working planning for the 12th Five-Year Programme, to ensure the sustainability of the project.
