Vice Minister Niu Dun Meets with Irish Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food

May 21-Vice Minister Niu Dun met with the visiting Irish Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr. Kevin Smyth, to exchange opinions on bilateral agricultural cooperation.

Vice Minister Niu Dun said that China-Ireland agricultural cooperation had a solid foundation and large potential. China s Ministry of Agriculture stood ready to work with the Irish Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to promote bilateral cooperation in agriculture.

Assistant Secretary Smyth agreed with Vice Minister Niu, and stated that with the consensus on areas of cooperation, the two sides could strengthen collaboration in personnel exchange, talent cultivation, and food safety supervision. Mr. Smyth also introduced the situation of Irish economy, food safety, and the control and prevention of animal epidemics to the Chinese side.
